ALL ABOUT THE KOREAN WAR
The Korean War was a 3 year civil war between North and South Korea. This war occurred after World War II when Korea was no longer apart of Japan’s territory and control. It took place in 1950 and started when allies decided to claim the two different sections of Korea. North Korea was claimed by the U.S.S.R (Union of Soviet Socialist Republics) and the South was occupied by the United States. While the North chose to be a communist country and the South chose democracy, this evoked a tension between the two neighboring countries. On June 25th of 1950, North Korea invaded South Korea and the UN (United Nations) immediately interpreted this action as an act of aggression and sent some U.S. troops and demanded North Korean troops to withdraw and go back to their territory. But North Koreans continued to display a rebellious act and continued to invade until they arrived at a point of Pusan, which is the southern-east most tip of South Korea. When this had occurred, the U.S. instantaneously sent troops to aid South Korea to reclaim their land. After this response, the North was provided with communist troops from China and Russia to aid them when the South had conquered up to Pyongyang. (The capital of North Korea) This whole situation basically became somewhat of just a giant game of tug-of-war. Each ends were constantly adding troops to their army to help them gain more of the opponent’s land. This went on for three frightening years until it was back to its original divide which is known as the 38th parallel.
